Safety Information
Read all instructions before use. For single patient use only.
- Intended Use: For non-invasive measurement of systolic and diastolic blood pressure and pulse rate from the upper arm of adult patients in home environments.
- Contraindications: Do not use on an arm with an intravenous infusion or arterial line.
- Precautions: Do not use near high-frequency surgical equipment or MRI scanners.
- Warnings: This device is not a treatment device. Measurements are for monitoring purposes only and are not a substitute for a medical diagnosis.
WARNING! A measurement result indicating possible AFIB or hypertension should be discussed with a physician. Do not make any therapy decisions based on a single measurement.

Device Overview
Front Panel: START/STOP button, MEMORY button, USER 1/2 selection button, LCD Display.
Display Icons: User 1/2, Memory symbol, Battery indicator, Heart symbol (pulse), AFIB symbol, WHO classification bar, Systolic/Diastolic/Pulse readings, Date & Time.
Cuff & Tubing: Cuff with Velcro closure and metal D-ring. Air tube connector port on left side of monitor.
Initial Setup
Before first use: Install batteries and set date/time.
- Insert Batteries: Open battery compartment on back, insert 4 AA batteries observing correct polarity (+/-).
- Set Date/Time: Press and hold MEMORY button for 3 seconds until year flashes. Use START/STOP to adjust values, MEMORY to confirm and move to next setting (month, day, hour, minute).
- Select User: Press USER button to select User 1 or User 2. Corresponding icon will appear on display.
- Apply Cuff: Ensure cuff is correctly connected to the monitor.
Tip: Perform setup on a stable surface. Use fresh batteries for accurate results.
Taking a Measurement
For reliable results, rest for 5 minutes before measuring. Avoid eating, smoking, or exercising 30 minutes prior.
- Sit comfortably on a chair with back support, feet flat on the floor.
- Place left arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level.
- Wrap the cuff snugly around your bare upper arm, 1-2 cm above elbow. The air tube should run down the center of your arm.
- Press the START/STOP button. The monitor will inflate automatically.
- Remain still and quiet during inflation and measurement. Do not move your arm or talk.
- The cuff will deflate automatically. Your systolic, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will display.
- The monitor will automatically store the reading for the selected user.
WARNING! Do not inflate the cuff when it is not wrapped around an arm.
Understanding Results
The display shows three main values and indicators.
- Systolic Pressure: Top number (e.g., 120). Pressure when heart beats.
- Diastolic Pressure: Bottom number (e.g., 80). Pressure when heart rests between beats.
- Pulse Rate: Heartbeats per minute (e.g., 72).
- WHO Indicator: A color bar on the right side classifies your result:
- Green: Normal
- Yellow: Mild Hypertension
- Orange: Moderate Hypertension
- Red: Severe Hypertension
- Irregular Heartbeat Icon: Appears if an irregular rhythm is detected during measurement.
- AFIB Icon: Appears if the patented algorithm detects a pattern consistent with possible Atrial Fibrillation.
Memory Function
Stores up to 99 measurements for each of 2 users with date and time.
- View Memory: Press the MEMORY button once. The most recent reading displays.
- Scroll: Press MEMORY again to scroll through previous readings in reverse chronological order.
- Average Value: After 3 measurements taken within 10 minutes, the display will show the average of these 3 readings for a few seconds after the last result.
- Exit Memory: Press START/STOP or wait 1 minute to return to standby mode.
Note: Memory is retained when batteries are removed, but date/time will reset.
AFIB Detection
This device incorporates Microlife's validated AFIB screening technology.
- How it works: The monitor analyzes pulse rhythm during the blood pressure measurement. If a pattern consistent with AFIB is detected, the AFIB symbol will appear next to the reading.
- Important: This is a screening feature, not a diagnosis. A positive AFIB result indicates a possible presence of atrial fibrillation and should be discussed with a doctor. Some cases of AFIB may not be detected.
- Action: If you see the AFIB symbol, note the reading and consult your physician. Do not panic; take a second measurement after resting for 5 minutes.
Battery & Power
- Battery Type: 4 x 1.5V AA alkaline batteries (LR6).
- Battery Life: Approximately 500 measurements (with backlight off).
- Low Battery Indicator: An empty battery symbol appears on display. Replace all 4 batteries promptly.
- Replacing Batteries:
- Open battery compartment cover.
- Remove old batteries.
- Insert 4 new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close cover. You will need to reset the date and time.
- Automatic Shut-off: Device turns off approximately 1 minute after last button press to save power.
CAUTION! Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries unless specified as compatible.
Care & Cleaning
Unplug air tube and remove batteries before cleaning.
- Monitor & Cuff: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not immerse in water or use abrasive cleaners.
- Air Tube: Do not bend sharply or kink. Ensure connector is clean and free of debris.
- Storage: Store in the provided case in a cool, dry place. Do not store with the cuff tightly wrapped.
CAUTION! Never use alcohol, benzene, or thinner to clean the device. Do not expose to direct sunlight or high humidity.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
| Display is blank | Batteries empty/incorrectly inserted | Replace all 4 batteries; check polarity. |
| Error Code 'E' appears | Cuff not connected / air leak | Ensure cuff tube is firmly plugged in. Check cuff for holes or cracks. |
| Error Code 'Err' | Measurement error | Rest for 5 minutes, reapply cuff correctly, and retry. Ensure you are still during measurement. |
| Inconsistent readings | Incorrect posture/cuff position | Sit correctly with cuff at heart level. Ensure cuff is snug but not too tight. |
| AFIB symbol flashes | Possible atrial fibrillation detected | Rest and retake measurement. Consult your doctor if symbol appears repeatedly. |
| Cuff does not inflate | Blocked tube / weak batteries | Check tube for kinks. Replace batteries. |
Reset: To reset date/time, press and hold MEMORY button for 3 seconds. To clear all memory, remove batteries for over 24 hours (note: this will also clear date/time).
