The Microlife BP A150 AFIB is a clinically validated, automatic upper arm blood pressure monitor featuring AFIB (Atrial Fibrillation) detection, Intellisense technology for comfortable inflation, irregular heartbeat detection, 2-user memory with 99 readings each, date/time display, WHO blood pressure classification indicator, and large LCD display. It is intended for home use to monitor blood pressure and pulse rate. Below are key sections for safety, features, setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Key components: Main unit with LCD display, Upper Arm Cuff with D-Ring, AC Adapter, Storage Case, Instruction Manual.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| AFIB Detection | Detects possible Atrial Fibrillation during measurement |
| Intellisense Technology | Automatically determines optimal inflation pressure for comfort |
| Irregular Heartbeat Detection | Flags irregular heartbeats during measurement |
| 2-User Memory | Stores 99 readings for each of two users |
| WHO Classification Indicator | Color-coded display shows blood pressure category |
| Large LCD Display | Easy-to-read backlit screen |
| Date & Time Stamp | Records measurement date and time |
| Automatic Power Off | Conserves battery life |
| Average Value | Calculates average of last 3 readings (per user) |
| Validated | Clinically validated for accuracy |
Read all instructions before use.
WARNING! Do not use while connected to other electronic medical devices (e.g., pacemakers, ECG). Measurements may be inaccurate during arrhythmias other than AFIB. Avoid using near strong electromagnetic fields.
Note: Batteries (4 x AA) may not be included; check your package.
Front Panel: START/STOP button, USER 1/USER 2 buttons, MEMORY button, LCD display.
Display Symbols: Systolic/Diastolic pressure, Pulse rate, AFIB symbol, Irregular Heartbeat symbol, User indicator, Battery icon, WHO color bar (Green/Yellow/Red), Date/Time, Memory index, Average value icon.
Cuff: Arm cuff with metal D-Ring, air tube, and artery marker.
Connectors: Cuff socket, DC input for AC adapter.
Power on device; set date and time.
CAUTION! Use correct cuff size. The cuff tube should run down the inside of your arm towards your palm.
For most accurate results, measure at the same time each day.
Tip: Do not talk or move during measurement.
Blood Pressure: Displayed as systolic/diastolic (e.g., 120/80 mmHg). WHO bar shows: Green (Normal), Yellow (Elevated/High), Red (Hypertension).
Pulse Rate: Beats per minute.
Irregular Heartbeat Symbol: Appears if irregular rhythm detected during measurement.
AFIB Symbol: Appears if possible Atrial Fibrillation is detected. This requires medical attention. Consult your physician.
Note: AFIB detection does not replace a medical diagnosis. The device screens for possible AFIB; confirmation requires an ECG.
Press MEMORY button to recall stored readings.
Unplug or remove batteries before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse in water or use solvents.
CAUTION! Do not disassemble or attempt repairs. No user-serviceable parts inside.
| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
|---|---|---|
| No display | Dead batteries, loose adapter | Replace batteries; ensure adapter is firmly connected. |
| Error Code 'E' | Cuff not attached, air leak | Connect cuff properly; check tube for leaks/kinks. |
| Error Code 'Err' | Measurement error | Remain still; reapply cuff correctly; retry. |
| Inconsistent readings | Incorrect posture, movement | Sit correctly, rest 5 min, ensure cuff at heart level. |
| AFIB symbol appears often | Possible arrhythmia | Consult your physician for evaluation. |
| Memory not saving | Wrong user selected, memory full | Select correct USER button before measuring. |
Reset: Remove batteries and adapter for 1 minute to reset device.
