Initial Setup
Before first use, install batteries and set the date and time.
- Insert Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back. Insert 4 AA batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-). Close the cover.
- Set Date & Time: Press and hold the MEMORY button for 3 seconds until the year flashes. Use START/STOP to change value and MEMORY to confirm and move to month, day, hour, and minute.
- Select User: Briefly press MEMORY to toggle between User 1 and User 2 icon on the display.
- Connect Cuff: Plug the cuff tube firmly into the socket on the side of the device.
CAUTION! Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries unless specified.
Taking a Measurement
For the most accurate results, rest for 5 minutes before measuring. Avoid eating, smoking, or exercising 30 minutes prior.
- Apply the Cuff: Sit comfortably with feet flat on the floor. Place cuff on bare left upper arm. The artery marker (▼) should align with your brachial artery. Secure with Velcro so it is snug but not tight.
- Position Arm: Rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level. Relax your palm upward.
- Start Measurement: Press the START/STOP button. The device will check cuff fit, then inflate automatically.
- Remain Still: Do not move or talk during inflation and measurement.
- Read Results: After deflation, your systolic, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will display along with the WHO indicator. The device will automatically store the reading for the selected user.
- Power Off: The device turns off automatically after 1 minute.
Tip: Take measurements at the same time each day for consistent tracking.
Understanding Your Results
The LCD displays three main values and a classification bar.
- Systolic Pressure (top number): Pressure in arteries when the heart beats.
- Diastolic Pressure (bottom number): Pressure in arteries when the heart rests between beats.
- Pulse Rate (heart icon): Number of heartbeats per minute.
- WHO Indicator: A colored bar graph shows classification:
- Green (Optimal/Normal): Systolic < 130, Diastolic < 85
- Yellow (High Normal/Mild Hypertension): Systolic 130-159, Diastolic 85-99
- Red (Moderate/Severe Hypertension): Systolic ≥ 160, Diastolic ≥ 100
- Irregular Heartbeat Icon: If this symbol appears, it may indicate an irregular pulse rhythm. Consult your physician if it appears frequently.
Memory Function
The device stores 60 measurements for each of two users with date and time.
- Select User: Press MEMORY briefly to choose User 1 or User 2 before taking a measurement.
- Recall Memory: Press and hold the MEMORY button for 2 seconds while the device is off. The most recent reading displays. Press MEMORY repeatedly to scroll through all stored readings for that user.
- View Average: After scrolling through all readings, the display will show "AVG" followed by the average of the last 3 consecutive measurements taken within 10 minutes of each other.
- Clear Memory: To delete all memory for the selected user, press and hold both START/STOP and MEMORY buttons for 5 seconds while in memory recall mode. "CLr" will flash.
