Device Overview
Front Panel:
- LCD Display: Shows systolic/diastolic pressure, pulse rate, IHB symbol, memory, user indicator, date/time, and WHO bar.
- START/STOP Button (O/I): Powers the device on and starts the measurement.
- MEMORY Button (M): Recalls stored measurements and sets the user (1 or 2).
- SET Button (S): Sets the date and time.
Cuff & Connection: Cuff with Velcro closure and metal D-ring. Air tube connector port on the left side of the main unit.
Initial Setup & Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Insert 4 new AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated.
- Close the cover securely.
- The display will show all segments briefly, then the date and time will flash (if not set).
- Use the SET (S) button to adjust the date and time. Press START/STOP to confirm.
Tip: Replace all batteries at the same time. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
Applying the Cuff
Correct application is critical for an accurate reading.
- Sit quietly for 5 minutes before measuring. Rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level.
- Slide your arm through the cuff loop. The air tube should run down the center of your inner arm, aligned with your middle finger.
- Wrap the cuff snugly around your bare upper arm. The lower edge should be 2-3 cm above your elbow.
- Secure the cuff with the Velcro. You should be able to fit one finger between the cuff and your arm.
CAUTION! Do not apply the cuff over clothing. Tight clothing on the arm can affect the reading.
Taking a Measurement
- Prepare: Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor. Relax and do not talk or move during the measurement.
- Select User: Press the MEMORY (M) button to select User 1 or User 2. The corresponding icon will appear.
- Start: Press the START/STOP (O/I) button. The cuff will inflate automatically.
- During Measurement: Remain still. The device will display your increasing pressure, then deflate while measuring.
- Result: Your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will be displayed along with the WHO indicator. The reading is automatically saved to the selected user's memory.
- Using MAM Mode: After the first reading, the device will automatically start two more measurements at 1-minute intervals. The final display will show the average of all three readings.
Understanding the Display
