Parts Identification
Familiarize yourself with the main components of your monitor.
- Main Unit: Contains the display, START/STOP button, and memory button.
- LCD Display: Shows systolic/diastolic pressure, pulse rate, icons, and memory number.
- D-Ring Cuff: Velcro-fastened cuff with air tube connector and artery marker.
- Air Tube: Connects the cuff to the main unit.
- Battery Compartment: Located on the back of the main unit.
- AC Adapter Socket: For optional power adapter (not included).
CAUTION! Ensure the air tube is securely connected before each use.
Initial Setup
Prepare your monitor for first use.
- Insert Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back. Insert 4 new AA batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-).
- Connect Cuff: Plug the air tube connector firmly into the socket on the side of the main unit.
- Set Date & Time: Press the MEMORY button for 3 seconds. Use the START/STOP button to adjust values. Press MEMORY to confirm.
- Test: Press START/STOP without the cuff on your arm. The display should light up, and the cuff should inflate slightly and then deflate. This is a system check.
Tip: For most accurate results, use the monitor at the same time each day in a quiet environment.
Taking a Measurement
Follow these steps carefully for a reliable reading.
- Prepare: Rest for 5 minutes before measuring. Sit comfortably with feet flat on the floor. Avoid talking or moving during measurement.
- Apply Cuff: Place cuff on bare left upper arm. The artery marker (▼) should align with your brachial artery. The tube should run down the center of your inner arm. Wrap cuff snugly, leaving 1-2 cm gap at the top.
- Position Arm: Rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level. Relax your hand, palm up.
- Start Measurement: Press the START/STOP button. The cuff will inflate automatically. Remain still and quiet.
- Read Results: When measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate. Your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will be displayed. The result is automatically saved.
- Power Off: The monitor turns off automatically after 1 minute.
WARNING! Do not inflate the cuff more than once within 5 minutes, as this may cause discomfort or inaccurate readings.
Understanding Your Results
The LCD display shows key information and symbols.
- Systolic Pressure: Top number (e.g., 120).
- Diastolic Pressure: Bottom number (e.g., 80).
- Pulse Rate: Beats per minute (e.g., 72).
- WHO Indicator: Color bar on the right side shows classification (Green: Normal, Yellow: Mild Hypertension, Red: Moderate/Severe Hypertension).
- Irregular Heartbeat Symbol (♥): Flashes if an irregular rhythm is detected during measurement. Consult your doctor if this appears frequently.
- Memory Number (M): Shows which memory position the reading is stored in (1-30).
- Low Battery Symbol: Appears when batteries need replacement.
Note: A single reading is not diagnostic. Track your readings over time and share them with your healthcare provider.
Memory Function
The monitor stores the last 30 readings with date and time.
- View Memory: Press the MEMORY button briefly. The most recent reading appears. Press MEMORY repeatedly to scroll through all stored readings.
- Clear All Memory: With the device OFF, press and hold the MEMORY button for 5 seconds until "CLr" appears on the display. All memory will be erased.
- Average of Last 3 Readings: While scrolling through memory, the display will show "AVE" and the average of the last three measurements taken in the same session.
Tip: Use the memory log to track your blood pressure trends for your next doctor's visit.
