The Microlife WatchBP Office Central is a professional-grade, automated oscillometric blood pressure monitor designed for clinical office use. It features central (aortic) blood pressure measurement technology, large color touchscreen display, patient management software connectivity, adjustable cuff sizes, irregular heartbeat detection, motion detection, and data storage for multiple users. Below are key sections for safety, features, setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Key components: Main unit with color touchscreen, Central BP measurement cuff, AC power adapter, USB cable for data transfer, and Quick Start Guide.
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Central Aortic Pressure | Measures pressure at the aorta for potentially greater clinical relevance |
| Oscillometric Technology | Automated, non-invasive measurement |
| Large Color Touchscreen | Intuitive user interface with clear result display |
| Irregular Heartbeat Detection (IHD) | Alerts to potential arrhythmias during measurement |
| Motion Detection | Ensures accurate readings by detecting patient movement |
| Multi-User Memory | Stores readings for numerous patients (with ID) |
| PC Connectivity | USB port for data export to WatchBP Office software |
| Adjustable Cuff | Standard adult cuff (22-32 cm) with other sizes available |
| AC Power Operation | For continuous clinic use; includes rechargeable battery backup |
| Automatic Inflation/Deflation | Fully automated measurement cycle |
Read all instructions before use. Intended for professional use by trained personnel.
WARNING! This device is a diagnostic aid. Diagnosis and treatment decisions must be made by a qualified healthcare professional.
Identify all parts before setup.
CAUTION! Do not kink or puncture the air hose. Store cuff loosely coiled.
1. Place the main unit on a stable, flat surface near a power outlet.
2. Connect the air hose from the cuff to the port on the side of the main unit.
3. Plug the AC power adapter into the unit and then into the wall outlet. The battery will charge.
4. Power on the device using the power button. Follow the on-screen language and time/date setup prompts.
5. Install the WatchBP Office software on your computer (from provided CD or website) if data management is required.
Tip: Perform a quick test measurement without a patient to ensure air system is sealed and functional.
For accurate Central BP readings, protocol is critical.
WARNING! Do not initiate a measurement if the cuff is not properly applied.
Brachial vs. Central Pressure: Traditional monitors measure pressure in the arm (brachial). Central pressure is estimated at the aorta, which may be a better predictor of cardiovascular risk as it accounts for arterial waveform changes (like pulse pressure amplification).
Reading the Display: Values shown include Brachial SYS/DIA and the calculated Central SYS. The waveform may also be displayed. An elevated Central SYS compared to Brachial SYS has specific clinical implications.
Irregular Heartbeat Symbol: If this icon appears, the reading may be less reliable due to arrhythmia. Consider repeating the measurement.
Refer to clinical guidelines and software analysis for interpretation of central pressure values.
The WatchBP Office software enables advanced management.
Note: Software may require registration and updates from the Microlife website.
Daily: Wipe the main unit and cuff with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasives.
Cuff Care: Inspect cuff for tears or leaks. Clean with mild soap and water if soiled; ensure it is completely dry before use.
Storage: Disconnect the hose, loosely coil it and the cuff. Store in a cool, dry place.
Battery: For prolonged storage, charge the battery fully every 6 months.
Calibration: The device should be checked for accuracy annually by an authorized service center.
CAUTION! Never immerse the main unit, hose, or cuff connector in water. Do not autoclave.
This device complies with the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) 2017/745, FDA 510(k) clearance (check specific model), and other applicable standards for safety and performance (e.g., IEC 60601-1).
CE Marked: Indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for the EEA.

| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
|---|---|---|
| Error Code E1 or no inflation | Hose not connected, cuff leak, blocked port | Check all connections. Ensure cuff is intact and valve is clean. Restart device. |
| Inconsistent or erratic readings | Patient movement, improper cuff fit, arrhythmia | Ensure proper cuff size and placement. Instruct patient to remain still. Check for IHD symbol. |
| Device will not power on | Dead battery, faulty power adapter | Connect AC adapter directly to wall outlet. Allow to charge for 4 hours. Try a different outlet. |
| Touchscreen unresponsive | Screen lock, calibration issue | Press and hold power button for 10 seconds to reboot. Recalibrate via settings menu if option exists. |
| Software not connecting | Driver issue, wrong USB port, cable fault | Reinstall software/drivers. Try a different USB port and cable. Ensure device is in "PC Connect" mode. |
Reset: To restore factory settings, navigate to Settings > System > Reset (this will erase all patient data).
