Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place monitor on stable, flat surface.

  1. Insert batteries: Open battery compartment, insert 4 AA batteries observing polarity.
  2. Connect AC adapter: Plug into DC input jack and wall outlet (optional for battery conservation).
  3. Attach cuff: Connect air hose to monitor's air outlet firmly.
  4. Position monitor: Ensure display is easily visible during measurement.

WARNING! Use only specified AC adapter. Do not use if cuff is damaged. Ensure proper cuff size for accurate readings.

First-Time Use

Power on monitor; follow initial setup prompts.

  1. Set date and time: Press SET button, use arrow keys to adjust, confirm with SET.
  2. Select user: For multi-user models, assign user number (U1, U2, etc.).
  3. Cuff positioning: Place cuff on bare upper arm, 2-3 cm above elbow, artery marker aligned with brachial artery.
  4. Body position: Ensure patient is seated with back supported, feet flat, arm supported at heart level.
  5. Take first measurement: Press START, remain still during inflation and deflation.

CAUTION! Patient should avoid caffeine, exercise, and smoking for 30 minutes before measurement. Rest for 5 minutes before taking reading.

Taking Measurements

For accurate clinical measurements:

  1. Prepare patient: Seat comfortably with back supported for 5 minutes.
  2. Apply cuff: On bare arm, secure snugly but not tight (1 finger should fit under cuff).
  3. Position arm: Rest on table with palm up, cuff at heart level.
  4. Start measurement: Press START - cuff inflates automatically.
  5. Remain still: No talking or moving during measurement.
  6. Read results: Systolic, diastolic, and pulse display with any arrhythmia detection.
  7. For MAM mode: Monitor automatically takes 3 readings with 1-minute intervals, displays average.

Tip: Take measurements at same time daily for consistent tracking. Record readings in patient chart.

Data Management

Memory functions and data transfer:

  1. View stored readings: Press MEMORY button, use arrows to scroll through readings.
  2. Delete readings: In memory mode, press and hold SET for 3 seconds to clear all data.
  3. Data transfer: Connect USB to computer with Microlife software installed.
  4. Print reports: Generate patient reports via software (optional printer).
  5. Average calculations: Software provides weekly, monthly averages and trends.

Note: Regular data backup recommended. Memory clears when batteries removed.

Special Functions

MAM Mode: For increased accuracy - takes 3 consecutive readings, calculates average. Afib Detection: Screens for atrial fibrillation during measurement - Afib symbol appears if detected. Hypertension Indicator: Color-coded display (green/yellow/red) based on WHO classification. Morning Hypertension Assessment: Special mode for morning measurement tracking.

Care & Maintenance
